A Photograph and its story
I took this
picture last year on a warming November morning, but I remember that moment as
if it were yesterday, perhaps because I feel that the "awakening" of
people will manifest itself with greater intensity on the streets very soon.
The Plaza
de la Dignidad is how people renamed this place formerly known as Plaza Italia,
where many times we met to celebrate a victory in the soccer game, this time it
was the scene of the largest concentration of people ever seen, all united with
the interest of fighting for pending justice and for a more dignified life, to
end false promises and to appeal for a change in the model that governs us
through the change of our constitution.
I remember
when I took the picture still felt the itch of the tear gas bombs in the air
even reaching the height of the Universidad Catolica subway, but despite that
people kept meeting there, day after day even when the government's speech was
to repress violently and constantly the actions of the citizenry, hiding the
truth through the control of the media and installing the speech of terror.
I hope to see this place again when we take to the streets to fight for
our rights.
